LOS MARISCOS

INSIDE CHELSEA MARKET

Los Mariscos opened its doors roughly two years ago inside Chelsea Market. It’s a Mexican seafood restaurant that serves fish tacos, ceviche tostadas and ice-cold Coronitas. Its inception came when Jamestown (the past owners of the market) offered us an old loading dock on 15th st between 9th & 10th ave. We had always talked about bringing the fish taco concept to the east coast, so when they offered us the space and we quickly jumped on it.

Similar to Los Tacos No.1, the main purpose of the design is to have it transport the client to a beach oasis in Baja while it snows outside in Manhattan. A lot of the seafood restaurants in northern Mexico are sponsored by Corona and Pacifico beer. This gives the design of the establishments and pre-selected color scheme of blue and yellow. We respected that approach, so again our design is the same: Paint everything white, add the blue and yellow stripes, open up shop and start selling tacos. The whole process is very rational, simple and authentic. Below you can see and compare the computer-generated renderings I created to the real photographs.
